My 1st Workshop

Thank you to those of you who left comments or emailed me with some ideas for my workshop. DUH!! Go to SCS to get ideas......now why didn't I think of that??? I think I just got a little overwhelmed and freaked out at the thought of preparing and wanting everything to be perfect. I think it went pretty well. Everyone there had stamped before, so they already knew the basics. I decided to CASE this card from Beate. When I saw it on her blog, I knew it would be easy to do at a workshop, which is why she called it "Super Easy Workshop Card". I changed up the colors and used the DS paper, Fall Leaves. My sample card is a little different that the ones we did at the workshop. The card bases were Old Olive, then Sky Blue, then Really Rust and then different pieces of the Fall Leaves collection. I think they turned out really great. Many of the guests commented on how much they loved the colors of the Fall Leaves paper, but would have never put those colors together themselves. That's why we have Stampin' Up! We used the Lots of Thoughts stamp set from the SAB catalog as well as the So Many Scallops set. I let people choose what stamp set they wanted to use based on what they wanted to use their card for. I think it showed how versatile the two stamp sets are.

We also did another project, but I think I'll save that one for tomorrow. Again, thanks for your help with ideas. They really helped!

I need some ideas.....and a card

Okay all you crafty people out there....I need your help!! I have been a SU! hobby demonstrator for over 5 years and have never had a party. What does that tell you about my addiction??? Well, I am having my first party this weekend and need some ideas. I had a card all planned out using the Time Well Spent stamp set, but the hostess told me last night that she doesn't want to do a card and would rather do a papercraft. I'm totally blanking! I have no idea what to do that won't cost me a lot in supplies. Any ideas out there? Please help! The party is this Saturday (2/23).



Onto a card. This is Emerson's Valentine's Day card that I made her. I usually don't get into too much detail with her cards because she likes to carry them around with her for weeks and usually picks them apart. Like she did with this one.....she took the bee off and just carries that around with her. Crazy, I know! Of course the card is PINK, and I had to add a little sparkle with some Diamond Stickles.



Alright ladies......help me with ideas!!!!! PLEASE!!

Potty Update and a Card

Well, potty training has been going far better than I thought. The first day went fairly well, until she had to have quiet time in the afternoon. That morning she didn't have any accidents.....all #2's were in the potty!! With that....all good things must come to an end. She didn't want to have quiet time....which Mommy desperately needed since I had only gotten about 2-3 hours of sleep from being up all night with a sick baby. Emerson looked right at me and said, I'm not going to quiet time, and then peed in her pants. After a couple hours of peeing on demand, we had a little talk and it hasn't happened since. I think she finally realized that she was not in control. She was wearing panties and going to go to the potty whether she wanted to or not. Nana & Papa are taking Emerson out shopping tomorrow to get more big girl panties. Boy do we need them!! With all the wet panties and all the throw up from Camryn, I have done more laundry this past week than I feel like I have done all year!!

Okay, enough potty talk, onto the card! After a long day of potty training with Emerson, I needed some well deserved "Mommy time" and packed up my stuff and went stamping with a friend. This is the Valentine's Day card I made for Camryn. I used the Changito Monkey pair from the Stampendous Coterie from Electic Paperie (see post here). Sad to say, I haven't used my Bees or Monkey's much. Nothing fancy with this card.....It's for a 9-month old. I was soooo tired when I made this that I figured she wouldn't care! (Bad attitude, I know!)

Let Us Be Grateful

First, let me say THANK YOU to those of you who have left comments or emailed me directly about your experiences on potty training. It can be so frustrating because it is totally out of your control. Today we go to our first preschool openhouse with Emerson. When I told her we were going, she said "Yeah, and then I go pee-pee in the potty all the time." That comment got me thinking....maybe, just maybe, she'll make the connection once we are there today and actually WANT to use the potty. Incentives never really worked with her, even though I have a whole bag full of goodies, just in case! So, we are going to go to the openhouse today and then I am going to give it one more good try starting tomorrow. I've got about 15 days off of work and I'm putting the panties on her and going for it! I know it won't be easy and there will be a lot of laundry and plenty of use of my Bissell Green Machine, but I'm willing to do it one more time before I send her off to preschool in the fall with her Depends! LOL! Thanks again for your support. I so appreciate the well wishes and stories. It helps me feel like I am not so alone with this.

Okay, enough potty talk and on to some cards! I love this paper from Basic Grey. It was made to go with the SU!'s Garden Green. When I made these, you can tell I was in the mood to use my Coluzzle :) When the juices aren't flowing, the Coluzzle is an easy way to jazz up your card without having to do much, IMO. I first did the card with the flower, and didn't like it at all. It just wasn't working for me. So then I adapted the card and used my trusty ribbon. You can never go wrong with ribbon.




Not sure how much I'll be posting over the next week. I have a feeling the potty training is going to wear me right out and will have no energy to be crafty. Wish me luck!!

More potty talk

I need your help! I need any and ALL advice about potty training. I've got a strong-willed, independent, stubborn 3 year old. Nothing motivates Emerson to go. I've tried EVERYTHING. She's such a TV junkie that now we tell her that TV is a privilege and when she goes to the potty, she earns a show. Now she doesn't watch ANY TV. Which isn't a bad thing, but I've now run out of ways to get her to go to the potty. She won't even let me change her poopy diaper. She'd rather sit in it all day.
She's almost 3 1/2 now and we are getting ready to sign her up for preschool (which she couldn't do this year because she wasn't potty trained). We started training her shortly after she turned 2, but then she got sick, so we stopped. Then I got put on bed rest with Camryn and we had to put potty training on the back burner. We've tried soooo many times since then, but it just isn't working.

I'm desperate! Any suggestions would be welcomed!

This was a card I made a while back and forgot to post it. This paper from SU! is retired, but I still like it. Especially on a snowy, blizzard-like day today. I makes me think of Spring when it feels like it is nowhere in sight. I like having the different season here in Michigan, and the Summer and Fall are just beautiful, but I certainly could do without all the snow. I can definitely see how people get seasonal depression. Man....do I sound like a downer or what??? Just a quick post....off to get dinner started so my DH can go snowblow after he eats. Not even sure he can make it into the driveway to get to the food!!

Hanging PIN Holder

WOW! Has it been ages since I've posted, or what?? I have had absolutely no time to stamp. I just feel lost without it! Starting this month, I have cut back my hours at work to try and get my life back in balance. I took the job to get a discount on the YMCA membership and I thought it would be nice to get out of the house once in a while and break up my week. Well, by doing that, I was no longer working out and I wasn't stamping. Well, needless to say, that just wasn't working for me. So starting this month, I am only working 3 days. I'm going to start working out more and start stamping again. (First I have to clean my mess of a stamp room, then I can start stamping!)

Another gift for my Mom for Christmas. Her new kitchen in her condo has cream or "bisque" cabinets with black accents, so I thought this would look nice in her kitchen by her telephone. I used two heavy chipboard coasters and used sticky tape to hold them together. I then modge podged the paper on the front and back. I punched holes in the top with my crop-a-dile and threaded through cream organdy ribbon and added the post-it notes and calendar. The font for "Notes" was printed on the computer.
